Yao Jian, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, said on Tuesday the number of China's newly approved foreign-invested enterprises in July alone reached nearly 2,100, up nearly 13 percent from the same period of last year, China News Services reported. The actual use of foreign capital amounted to almost 6.9 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 29 percent.

From January to July, the number of newly-approved foreign-invested enterprises totaled 14,460, growing 18 percent and the actual use of foreign capital reached nearly 58.4 billion US dollars, increasing by nearly 21 percent, said Yao.

In foreign direct investment, from January to July, China's domestic investors made investment in 2,304 foreign enterprises in 113 countries and regions, with the non-financial investment reaching nearly 26.8 billion yuan, Yao said.

Due to the financial crisis, the large-scale projects saw a decline and the volume of new contracts signed dropped 20 percent to 60.5 billion US dollars.
