The 15th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) will be held here in October this year, which was aimed at promoting trade and investment of brands, economic co-operation and business information exchange in the region, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) said on Tuesday.

Organized by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the annual fair will be held at the Venetian Macao resort between Oct. 21 and 24.

Over 1,200 exhibition booths are expected to be showcased in entire 30,000 square meters of exhibition floor at the MIF, according to the organizer. Apart from the pavilions named after different provinces of China and various countries, thematic exhibition halls will also be established.

This year, the 15th MIF takes the theme of "Cooperation Key to Business Opportunities" with a view to showcase the diverse economic development and dynamic corporate environment of Macao to local and overseas participants, said Va Kuan Lau, acting President of IPIM, at a press conference here.

Last year, MIF has attracted 288 trade and economic delegations from 61 countries with over 60,000 visitors, while 36 seminars, forums and conferences and 1,032 business matching sessions were held during the fair period, according to the organizer.

MIF is the major annual trade and economic event in Macao, and apart from fostering regional cooperation and attracting business and investments, "we have strong hope on the event to help local enterprises, especially the SMEs (small and medium enterprises), the convention and exhibition sector and other emerging businesses develop further," the president also said.
