Geely's first B-Class sedan—Emagrand EC7 won five stars in the China-New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP) test with an agreeable score of 46.8 points (the maximum score is 51), among which the frontal impact test against rigid barrier with 100 percent overlapping scored 13.61, the frontal impact test against deformable barrier with 40 percent overlapping obtained 14.41 points and the side impact test against mobile deformable barrier 15.8 points.

China Automotive Technology and Research Center held a press conference in Tianjin last Friday, announcing eight models' C-NCAP test results, the fourth batch in 2010.

Emgrand EC7 is Geely's second model that has achieved five stars in the C-NCAP test after Geely Panda was appraised as the only five-star A00-Class vehicle in 2009.

Emgrand EC7 also acquired the highest score in this test, surpassing some middle-end and high-end models manufactured by joint ventures, including Magotan from FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co. Ltd. and Skoda Superb from Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd.

The fantastic result signifies that Geely vehicles' safety performance has outperformed the average level of the self-owned automakers, becoming a bellwether that masters the self-developed safety technology. It also means that the company is mature enough to compete with foreign automakers. The test result is taken by the industrial authorities as a symbolization of the rise of Chinese self-developed brands as well as the improvement of Chinese auto products' quality.

Although more and more cars have scored high in C-NCAP, cars with five stars are mostly high-end vehicles of foreign brands with good security configurations. Since its beginning, only 5 models of independent brands have obtained five stars , among which two are from Geely: Geely Panda, and Geely Emgrand EC7. Geely's progress also represents a breakthrough of domestic independent auto brands in security technology field.

Geely Emgrand EC7 got five stars in C-NCAP, the body responsible for crash testing cars in China, proving that Geely's strategy of "safety first" to be highly effective. Geely believes it has the ability to produce "the safest cars".
