The Beijing city government netted a record 151.7 billion yuan (22.8 billion U.S. dollars) in land sales in the year to Thursday, the municipal bureau of land and resources said.

The city sold 252 plots of land this year, the bureau said in a statement.

A plot of land in the central business district in east Beijing sold for 6.3 billion yuan on Tuesday, a record high for a plot.

Last year, the city sold 247 plots of land for 92.8 billion yuan.

The city's land-sales revenue was the highest of all 31 Chinese mainland regions.

The Chinese government has moved to curb rapid rises in property prices with tough down payment requirements and lending and purchase restrictions.
