Hitachi plans to boost its China sales to 1.4-1.5 trillion yen ($16.73 billion) in fiscal 2012, up from less than 1 trillion yen in fiscal 2009, the Nikkei business daily reported.

Marketing products such as construction machinery and elevators there, the electronics firm will also ramp up sales in auto parts and hard-disk drives, the paper said. Hitachi will lift production from the current 70 percent to become more cost competitive, the daily said.
