Pawn industry makes big bucks

China's pawn industry has swelled to an 84.7-billion-yuan ($12.49 billion) business in the first half of the year, up 10.6 percent, and profits reached 1.09 billion yuan ($160.8 million), data from the Ministry of Commerce showed Tuesday.
