One of the largest and longest standing trading and sourcing events for the Chinese surface mount technology industry (SMT) will be held in April.

NEPCON China will be held from April 20-22 at the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center. The exhibition will feature a range of innovations from global electronics manufacturing and SMT.

The exhibition will serve as a sourcing venue for new suppliers, a resource for up-to-date market information and a showcase for the latest technologies.

The event is supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Surface Mount Technology Association International (SMTA). It is part of a series covering the major electronics manufacturing hubs in China, and includes NEPCON China held in Shanghai in April, NEPCON West China held in Chengdu in June, and NEPCON South China held in Shenzhen in August.

NEPCON China 2010 will cover 30,000 sq m and there will be over 500 exhibitors on-site. High-profile companies like Assembleon, Agilent Technologies, Siemens, Sony, Hitachi, Samsung, Panasonic, Fuji, Henkel, Yamaha, Juki, DEK and Speedline are regular exhibitors.

The 2010 show has also attracted new participants like Dongyouda, Lu Bang Chemical, KED Optical Electric, Sunsport and Wisdom Electronics.

The organizers, Reed Exhibitions, have tapped into new industries and regions this year, so the number of visitors is expected to increase.

Areas that will be of particular interest this year are consumer, automotive and medical, electronics, household appliances and industrial quality control equipment.

It is expected that visitors will travel from India, Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.

The exhibition will feature the annual China Electronics Manufacturing & SMT Industry Engineers Award program, with a judging panel comprising 10 industry experts. The prize winners will be announced on April 21.

Other highlights include the Electronics Manufacturing and IC Packaging Technology Forum 2010. Local and international experts from the industry's leading companies will give their insights into development trends and technology innovations in the industry.

Also not to be missed will be the SMTA Conference Program. This intensive three-day program will cover all aspects of the industry.

The event is also a great opportunity for people to network and learn from others. There will be the chance to listen to expert speakers talking about their manufacturing experience and the challenges of modern production.

In addition, attendees will be able to engage with international professors on the latest developments and technology updates.

This year the exhibition will feature a new LED segment. China Solid State Lighting Alliance and Reed Exhibitions will combine to host the Green Lighting Shanghai Expo and Forum 2010. This will cover the entire industry chain in the lighting industry and showcase the newest and most innovative technologies and products.

In addition to on-site booths, the e-NEPCON website, www.enepcon.com, provides opportunities to further develop relationships between exhibitors and visitors. Since its launch in 2008, e-NEPCON has attracted over 20,000 users.

Reed Exhibitions is one of the world's leading events organizers, with over 440 events in 36 countries annually.
