Wang Xing, a forerunner of social networking services (SNS) in China, recently launched an e-commerce site that offers daily deals at unbeatable prices through group purchasing.

Meituan.com, Wang's new business, has an interface similar to that of Groupon.com.

Wang disclosed that his new site was following Groupon.com's business pattern. Meituan.com offers only one product with incredibly low price. "We focus on quality, rather than quantity."

Prior to the establishment of Meituan.com, Wang started Xiaonei.com in 2005, Fanfou.com in May 2007 and Hainei.com in November 2007.

Wang sold his Xiaonei.com to Oak Pacific Interactive, a Chinese Internet consortium, in October 2006. Xiaonei.com is a copy of Facebook in China, and is the most popular SNS in China. Fanfou.com, shut down last year, was among China's earliest social networking and microblogging providers.

Wang stressed that Meituan.com also depend greatly on inter-person communication. "The concept is similar to that of the SNS sites."
