The National Energy Administration held a plaque presentation ceremony January 6, signaling the formal establishment of the first 16 national energy research and development centers.

Zhang Baoguo, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission and the head of the National Energy Administration, said during the ceremony that the 16 research and development centers will work in key energy industries and sectors such as nuclear power, wind power, high-efficiency power generation and transmission, and facility materials, which will have a far-reaching meaning for building a support system of energy science and technology, helping meet the strategic needs of innovation-oriented countries and to optimize and upgrade the energy structure.
