On December 30, a 10 mW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant invested in by the State Development and Investment Corporation (SDIC), known as a 10 mW on-grid solar PV power generation model and concessionary project in Dunhuang, was successfully put into operation. The project is also China's largest on-grid solar PV power generation project under construction.

The total installed capacity of the project stands at 10 mW. 9.5 mW of poly-crystalline silicon solar cell units and 0.5 mW of amorphous silicon solar cell units are planned to be installed. Once the units are built, the annual on-grid electricity generated will reach about 15.30 million kWh and will meet the demand for about 1,525.86 hours per year. It is planned that all units will be in service in 2010, and the project is estimated to have a total investment of about 179.27 million yuan. (Photo: A worker cleaning solar panels.)
