Sinohydro Corporation recently signed a formal agreement with the government of Ecuador in Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, to construct a two billion U.S. dollar Coca Codo Sinclair (CCS) hydropower project, the largest hydropower station in Ecuador.

Upon completion, the project, which is located on the Amazon River, will have a total installed capacity of 1,500 MW of hydroelectric power and an annual power output of 8.8 billion kWh. The Export-Import Bank of China will finance 1.7 billion U.S. dollars for the project and the government of Ecuador will finance the remaining 300 million U.S. dollars.
