Chinese firms on shortlist

Yanzhou Coal Mining Co, China Shenhua Energy Co and China Coal Energy Co may have made indicative takeover bids for Whitehaven Coal Ltd, the Australian Financial Review reported in its Street Talk column, without saying where it got the information.

The companies were being considered for a final shortlist over the weekend, the newspaper said.
