HK stocks up 0.67 pct

Hong Kong stocks went up 0.67 percent on Monday as turnover kept shrinking.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index moved up 154.7 points to close at 23,317.61 points, after trading between a day high of 23,490.18 points and a day low of 23,233.4 points.

Turnover totaled 63.4 billion HK dollars (8.15 billion US dollars), down from last Friday's 69.57 billion HK dollars, and much lower than the average level of 73.2 billion HK dollars per day last week.

The H-Share Index moved up 90.81 points, or 0.72 percent, to end at 12,751.82 points.

Banking giant HSBC edged up 0.24 percent to close at 81.7 HK dollars. China Mobile, China's dominant mobile carrier, closed flat at 77.85 HK dollars.

Mainland lenders listed in Hong Kong gained. ICBC, China's largest bank by market value, jumped 0.69 percent to close at 5.87 HK dollars; CCB, the country's second largest lender by market capitalization, edged up 1.15 percent to close at 7.06 HK dollars; BOC, one of the "big four", increased 1.22 percent to 4.16 HK dollars.

Major local developers crept up. Sun Hung Kai, HK's largest property developer by market value, moved up 1.46 percent to close at 131.7 HK dollars; Cheung Kong properties, owned by billionaire Li Ka-shing, edged up 1.4 percent to 115.9 HK dollars.

China Life, one of the world's largest life insurers by market value, increased 0.15 percent to end at 33 HK dollars.

PetroChina, the country's largest oil and gas producer moved up 1.12 percent to 9.94 HK dollars; Sinopec, China's top refiner, increased 2.65 percent to 7.37 HK dollars. (One US dollar is equivalent to 7.77 HK dollars)
