Chinese shares climbed 2.11 percent Monday, boosted by coal shares on half-year sales growth.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was up 51.15 points to end at 2,475.42.
The Shenzhen Stock Index rose 2.96 percent, or 290.47 points, to 10,097.1 points.
Total turnover expanded sharply to 142.89 billion yuan (21.04 billion U.S. dollars), from 105.6 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Winners outnumbered losers by 872 to 19 in Shanghai and 964 to 19 in Shenzhen.
