Chinese shares close higher midday Friday on positive economic data

Chinese equities rose Friday following the nation's positive economic figures in May, with the benchmark gauge Shanghai Composite Index ending the morning session at 2,571.8 6 points, up 0.36 percent.
The Shenzhen Component Index was up 0.51 percent to end the morning session at 10,274.31.
China's economy continued to expand in May, as retail sales grew 18.7 percent year on year, Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 7.1 percent, and industrial value-added output increased 16.5 percent.
