Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan met Wednesday with a delegation of the Hong Kong Association of Banks headed by Norman Chan, chief executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

Wang said he appreciated the measures taken by the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) to tackle the global financial crisis and the achievements it made.

Wang said, the mainland and Hong Kong should strengthen cooperation to guard against financial uncertainties and further boost economic development.

Norman Chan said Hong Kong would enhance financial cooperation with the mainland and endeavor to maintain financial and economic stability in Hong Kong.
