The European Central Bank kept its main interest rate at a record low of 1 percent Thursday, a spokesman said.
The bank also kept two other benchmark rates, the marginal lending rate and the deposit rate, unchanged at 1.75 percent and 0.25 percent.
The Bank of England Thursday froze British interest rates at a record low level of 0.50 percent for a 19th month running, as it seeks to nurture a fragile economic recovery.
