The European Union agreed on a vast trade deal with South Korea Thursday, saying it was the first link in a process that would "bind" Europe to Asia.
The deal is the first such trade pact between the 27-member EU and an Asian country, and was presented as a pacesetter for similar agreements with India and other regional powers.
The deal will be formally signed at an EUSuth Korea summit in Brussels on October 6, officials said.
