During the past year, Russia's crude oil output increased while the gas output plunged, said the state enterprise Central Dispatching Department of Fuel Energy Complex (CDU TEK) on Monday.

Statistics showed that the crude oil output climbed 1.2 percent year-on-year to 494.2 million metric tons, while the natural gas output slashed by 12.4 percent to 582.4 billion cubic meters.

Meanwhile Russia's coal output declined 8.7 percent to 300.2 million metric tons last year.

The Russian economy relies heavily on oil and gas resources. Russia is the world's biggest natural gas supplier, and the country's crude oil deposits also rank the eighth in the world.
