Brazil's consumer expectation indicator went up 1.8 percent to 116.8 points in July, the second highest in history, the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) said on Friday.
The indicator reflects people's expectations on six aspects including inflation rate, unemployment, personal income, household debt, expensive goods consumption and general financial situation.
Consumers' expectations on five aspects went up, while expectation on expensive goods consumption decreased, said the CNI.
It was the third consecutive rise this year. Statistics indicated that consumers are generally optimistic if the figure surpasses 100.
The indicator was drawn from a survey conducted July 23-27 among 2,002 Brazilian consumers.
