Nikkei closes 0.14% higher

Tokyo stocks closed slightly higher on Monday with the key Nikkei index up 0.14 percent.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 Average climbed 14.73 points from Friday to 10,857.53. The broader Topix index advanced 1.03 points, or 0.11 percent, to 974.63.

Among the leading winners were the rubber products sector, oil and coal products, and pulp and paper sectors, while the decliners included the textile, sea transport, and iron and steel sectors.

Trading volume on the main section contracted to 2,086 million shares from 2,156 million Friday.
