Nikkei hits 6-month high in morning trade

The Nikkei stock index rose to a six- month intraday high Friday morning.

The benchmark Nikkei-225 index gained 13.73 points, or 0.14 percent after rising 1.8 percent the previous day, to 10,182.25. It briefly rose to as high as 10,254.00, its highest intraday level since May.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange edged up 1.54 points, or 0.18 percent, to 878.75.
