Nikkei up 1.77% in morning trading

Tokyo stocks rose Monday morning with the key Nikkei index up 1.77 percent.

At 11 a.m., the benchmark Nikkei 225 Average jumped 177.18 points to 10,172.20.

The broader Topix index was up 15.03 points to 899.67.
