Nikkei opened slightly lower Friday morning due to a lack of fresh trading cues.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the benchmark Nikkei-225 Stock Average fell 9.31 points, or 0.09 percent, from Thursday to 9,990.09.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 3.52 points, or 0.40 percent, to 883. 96. The Second Section also gained ground.
