Vietnam stock market index closes lower

Vietnam's stock market index, VN- Index, closed at 496.89 points on Monday, down 13.48 points, or 2. 64 percent, against the previous trading day.

A total of 52.05 million shares worth 1.67 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (87.87 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange. Prices of 22 stocks went up, 202 dropped while 16 remained unchanged.

HNX-Index, the index of Vietnam's Hanoi Stock Exchange, went down 6.88 points, or 4.26 percent, to 154.8 points.
