Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday with the key Nikkei index up 1.47 percent.
At 9:15 a.m., the benchmark Nikkei 225 Average jumped 142.18 points to 9,781.90.
The broader Topix index rose 11.04 points, or 1.27 percent, to 880.93.
