S Korea to examine feasibility of China, S. Korea FTA

South Korea will probe into the feasibility of the free trade agreement (FTA) with China, examining how a pact may boost up the country's overall competitiveness, local media reported Thursday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy at its weekly economic policy meeting decided to launch a research on how a possible FTA.
The research will deal with how a bilateral FTA may enhance the country's competitiveness among the global peers as well as ties with China, the media report said.
Seoul has been discussing with Beijing whether to settle a FTA for better trade ties, but no detailed plans have been reached yet mainly due to sensitive issues such as agricultural products.
