Despite the automaker's massive global recall woes JADA said the world's largest carmaker sold 35,546 units of the gas-electric hybrid in Japan last month, marking the 11th consecutive month Prius has topped the best-seller list in Japan.
Additionally JADA said Toyota's Prius was also the top-selling car in Japan in the fiscal year to March 2010, with sales quadrupling from a year earlier to 277,485 units.
Beleaguered Toyota Motor Corp. has spent recent weeks attempting to recapture lost sales momentum after a massive worldwide recall of vehicles for safety faults dented its image.
Subsequently a 50 member committee has been formed to ensure the prioritization of safety and quality control in the wake of the firm's 8.5 million vehicle global recall following issues of sticky accelerator pedals, pedals being held down by floormats and the top-selling Prius' breaking glitch in adverse weather conditions or on uneven terrain.
