Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday with the key Nikkei index up 0.47 percent.
At 9:15 a.m., the benchmark Nikkei 225 Average advanced 46.38 points to 9,917.11.
The broader Topix index was up 1.95 points to 874.39.
