The deficit experienced by the United States that reaches 1.4 trillion U.S. dollars would not harm Indonesia's budget target, the Antara news agency reported Tuesday.

"The U.S. government has just announced a deficit in October this year, so I think it is safe," Director General of Fiscal Policy at the Finance Ministry Anggito Abimanyu was quoted as saying.

However, the director said, there would be side effects on bonds, although the impact would not be too significant.

"The number of Government Bonds, which we have issued are not as many as those of other countries because the `size` of our bond market is still small so the impact of the `crowding` is not too significant," he said.
