During the first half of 2009, Guangzhou's registered unemployment rate and reemployment rate stood at 2.42 percent and 45.58 percent, declining by 0.1 percentage points and up by 3.05 percentage points respectively. Its registered unemployment rate was the lowest in China.
Guangzhou plans to invest more than 11 million yuan of fiscal budget in business start-up subsidies to boost the job market.
In H1, the number of registered unemployed persons in urban areas of Guangzhou was 151,400, increasing by 0.2 percent year-on-year, and 69,000 people found new employment.
The municipal government will make sure the re-employment rate of registered unemployed persons in urban areas reaches over 70 percent, putting the urban registered unemployment rate below 3.6 percent, and try to achieve full employment in over 70 percent of local communities.
