An official from the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) explained that amid the global financial crisis, the number of domestic-funded enterprises has increased rather than decreased and the total registered capital has continued to grow. This is mainly due to the initial success of China's policies to ensure economic growth, people's livelihood and social stability.

The number of new enterprises in Zhejiang Province increased despite the impact of the financial crisis. There were 48,428 new enterprises established in the first half of 2009, up 4.8 percent year-on-year. 45,346 of these enterprises are privately funded, up 8.1 percent year-on-year.

Various types of market players numbering 359,400 were newly registered in Guangdong Province in the first half of 2009, up 23.56 percent year-on-year.
