International charity sale held in Beijing


Madam Le Aimei, wife of Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and the Foreign Ministry's Honorary Ambassador for Poverty Alleviation, delievered the speech at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

On September 12, the international charity sale "Love Knows No Borders" for children's education in poor areas of China's Yunnan Province was held south of Ling Long Tower, the Olympic Green in Beijing, which was hosted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of P.R.C. and co-hosted by Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and People's Government of Chaoyang District of Beijing.

The activity was initiated by Madam Le Aimei, wife of Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and the Foreign Ministry's Honorary Ambassador for Poverty Alleviation.

More than 70 countries' embassies to China and representative offices of international organizations including European Union (EU), World Bank (WB),the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) etc., and Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Association of Former Diplomats of China (AFDC) and 5 departments of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China,which set up over 80 charity sale booths during the acitity.

They sold handicrafts, daily necessities, books and food with local unique flavors. The funds raised will be used to finance the education for children in two poverty-stricken counties-Jinping and Malipo in Yunnan Province,China.
