BYD made sure that the independently researched and developed pure electric car, the E6, would be sold in U.S. next year. Its price will be a little higher than 40,000 U.S. dollars. The initial step of the program is to put a few hundred cars into the market.

Governments, public utilities companies and even some celebrities, will likely be target customers in the initial phase.

BYD hoped to enter into the European market in a similar strategy in 2011 or later.

E6 adopts the iron battery technology employed by BYD. The car can run for 400 km and its power consumption is 15 degrees. To charge about 80 percent of power needs 15 to 20 minutes, and to fully charge the car needs 1-2 hours.

Recently, the production base for the electric vehicle battery has been established in Huizhou, Guangdong province.

Before this, BYD also acquired Midea Sanxiang bus, and plans to put the construction of electric buses into production at that base.
