Zhangjiakou to be largest wind power base in China

By the end of July, the total installed capacity of wind power in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, had reached 1.14 million kilowatts, NO.1 in Hebei Province. Zhangjiakou has become one of the regions with highest wind power capacity.

By the end of 2009, the total installed capacity of wind power in Zhangjiakou will have developed to 1.55 million kilowatts.

Zhangjiakou plans to invest 30 billion yuan on wind power. By the end of the "11th Five-Year Plan", its total installed wind power capacity will amount to over 2 million kilowatts, and Zhangjiakou city will be the largest wind power base in China.

Its wind power reserve reaches over 20 million kilowatts, and over 11 million kilowatts can be exploited. There are 63 completed, ongoing and pre-construction power plants, whose total capacity amounts to 4,882,650 kilowatts.

Zhangjiakou city has implemented the wind power transmission project of over one billion yuan in 2009, which will make the wind power transmission capacity increase from 720,000 kilowatts at present to 1,870,000 kilowatts.
