In the first half of 2009, 623,200 private enterprises and 3,609,400 individual industrial and commercial businesses were newly registered in China. As of the end of June, China had 6,923,500 private enterprises, with a total registered capital of 12.81 trillion yuan, employing 82.12 million people, up by 5.31 percent, 9.11 percent and 3.9 percent over the end of last year respectively.

In the first half of 2009, China's 30,636,300 individual industrial and commercial businesses had a total capital of 985.13 billion yuan and employed 60.99 million people, up by 5.01 percent, 9.39 percent and 5.59 percent over the end of last year respectively.

There were 179,100 farmer's cooperatives with a total capital of 162.047 billion yuan, up by 61.5 percent and 84.11 percent over the end of last year respectively.
