"China will shape top 10 city agglomerations including the Wuhan city circle, which is expected to top 10 supporting points of national economy," said Xiao Jincheng, an expert from China's National Development and Reform Commission, in a special report.
The top 10 city agglomerations includes the Jing - Jin – Ji Region (Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province), the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, the Shandong Peninsula, southern Liaoning province, the central plains, the middle Yangtze River region (Wuhan city circle), the west bank side of the (Taiwan) Strait, the Sichuan and Chongqing municipality, and the central Shaanxi city group.
The top 10 city agglomerations, covering less than one tenth of China's total land area with more than one third of China's total population, have created over a half of China's GDP.
In view of the bearing capability of resources and environment and the future potential for development, the top 10 city agglomerations will gather more population and create more GDP.
