The Carlyle Group, a U.S. private-equity giant, has agreed to acquire ARINC, a major provider of communications technology to the military and commercial aviation companies, The Washington Post reported on Friday.

Neither side provided financial details of the transaction. ARINC, a privately held company based in Maryland, has annual revenues of more than 900 million U.S. dollars, according to the report.

The deal is expected to close in the third quarter, pending regulatory approval.

The transaction is the latest in a string of high-profile buyouts by Carlyle and other giant private-equity firms. This week, the Blackstone Group announced it was buying the Hilton hotel chain for 26 billion dollars.

On Monday, Carlyle said it would buy nursing home provider Manor Care, formerly of Gaithersburg, for 6.3 billion dollars.
Carlyle has nearly 60 billion dollars under management, making it one of the biggest players in the private-equity field.
