A new round of United Nations climate change talks kicked off here on Friday in Bonn, Germany, to discuss how to go ahead with future negotiations under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Negotiators from the two working groups under the UNFCCC are to determine during the three-day sessions how many additional talks are needed in the run-up the UN Climate Change Conference in Mexico, which is scheduled to be held on Nov. 29 to Dec. 10.

This is the first round of negotiations after the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen last December, which attracted more than 120 world leaders but failed to reach a legally binding agreement.
