TEGUCIGALPA, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Organization of American States (OAS) delegation arrived in Honduras on Wednesday to set up a truth commission foreseen by the Tegucigalpa-San Jose Agreement signed on Oct. 30, 2009.

OAS Secretary of Political Affairs Victor Rico arrived in Tegucigalpa-Toncontin airport with no declaration to the press.

Referring to the June 28 coup in Honduras, Deputy Chief Antonio Rivera Callejas told the press that the truth commission "is a very important point of the Tegucigalpa-San Jose Agreement, and it is also important to prevent (a coup from) happening again in Honduras."

Honduran Foreign Minister Mario Canahuati said the Honduran President Porfirio Lobo Sosa has made a draft of the truth commission.

He added that Rico's arrival in the country was "to check out how the commission will be established because it is a fundamental issue for the country."

Canahuati said the truth commission "must be formed as soon as possible," adding that he did not know whether it could be formed this weekend.

The Tegucigalpa-San Jose Agreement aims at ending the Honduran political crisis, which started with the political-military coup against former President Manuel Zelaya on June 28 last year.
