UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is to pay a three-day official visit to Russia next week, his spokesperson said Thursday.
"This will be his first trip to the Russian Federation since taking office as secretary-general," Marie Okabe told reporters at the UN headquarters in New York.
During the visit, the secretary general is expected to meet with Russian government leaders, including President Vladimir Putin, president-elect Dmitry Medvedev and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Okabe said.
