Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday urged for food stability and availability to anticipate impacts of extreme climate, the country' s largest news portal detikcom quoted an official as saying on Monday.

Economic Coordinating Minister Hatta Rajasa told reporters after a limited coordination meeting on food and energy that the efforts include domestic production increase and food import while in the same time preserving farmer's interests.

According to Rajasa, the presidential instruction focused on food availability ahead of Islamic festivities of Ramadhan fasting month and Eid-el-Fitr.

"We have to guard and to maintain stability of basic food price as well as to guarantee its availability nationwide no matter what," said Rajasa.

He added that the instruction also includes rice for poor and market operation.

"We have to distribute rice for poor just in time and on target. We have to conduct market operation in all regions that have tendency of food price increase," he said.

The president also urged for plan implementation on production increase with state budget of 1.4 trillion rupiah (about 140.8 million U.S. dollars) and stabilization fund of 2 trillion rupiah (about 234.8 million dollars).

All ministers were also instructed to provide protection for farmers by guarding price of unhulled rice and by distributing fertilizer and seeds.

The president also commanded for increasing food supply in the National Logistic Agency, especially in anticipating extreme climate.

"Rice should be available in any condition," said Rajasa.
