A bomb explosion on Monday rocked Madalla, the Federal Capital Territory's border with central north Niger State, an official has said.

Spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Yushau Shuaib made this known to Xinhua on Tuesday, saying that nobody was killed by the explosion as at the time of filing this report.

Shuaib said the report at the disposal of the agency indicated that the explosion occurred in a place close to a recreational spot at about 9:32 p.m. local time.

The agency spokesperson said the spot of the explosion had been cordoned off by security operative.

The explosion recurred in Niger for the second time in a week after Sunday's explosion in Suleja which killed some residents and injured others.

The Independent National Electoral office in Suleja also witnessed a bomb blast on the eve of April's parliamentary elections.
