Explosion hits Nigerian town outskirts Abuja, heavy casualties feared

A heavy explosion on Sunday hit the northern town of Suleja, outskirts of capital city of Abuja, an emergency official told Xinhua.

Spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Yusuf Shuaib said four persons are seriously injured in the explosion that rocked the town.

He said the four victims had been rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

Security sources in Abuja told Xinhua that heavy casualties are feared, but did not give the number.

Deputy national police spokesperson Yemi Ajayi also confirmed the blast to Xinhua but said he could not confirm the figure casualties at this stage.
