The Libyan capital was under attack of a series of airstrikes in the early hours of Tuesday, with Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi's compound apparently among the targets, according to media reports.

A Xinhua witness heard at least six huge blasts near the barracks where Gaddafi resides, and it was not immediately known whether there were any casualties.
