Egypt's newly appointed Prime Minister Essam Sharaf met on Sunday the prominent figures nominated for the ministerial portfolios in the presence of his deputy, Egyptian Nile TV reported.

Sharaf met with the former ministers of trade and industry and communications, among others, who promised to exert utmost efforts to meet the demands of the people, according to Nile TV.

The nominee for minister of interior is Mansour El Essawy, said the report.

The former tourism minister promised to recover the Egyptian tourism which has suffered great losses after more than 1 million tourists fled the country during the destabilization that lasted for more than 18 days, the report added.

Sharaf's choices for the transitional period are subject to the approval of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces which took the power after Mubarak's resignation on Feb. 11, said the report.
