Undisclosed numbers of lives have been lost on Wednesday in Suleija, central north Nigeria's Niger State when a bomb blast exploded during political rally organized by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Security sources told Xinhua that 10 people were feared killed, noting that the bomb exploded minutes after Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger addressed his party faithful.

The bomb exploded from a parked bus by the roadside close to Government Secondary School, Suleja, killing and maiming passersby, the source said.

State police spokesperson Richard Oguche confirmed the blast to reporters in Minna, the state capital but decline further comments.

Suleija is some 45 km from Abuja, the country's Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
