Tunisian Islamist leader returns from exile

Tunisian Islamist leader Rached Ghannouchi returned home after more than 20 years in exile on Sunday, local reports said.

Ghannouchi was seen being greeted by a large number of supporters after his plane touched down at the Carthage airport in Tunis.

After 22 years in exile, Ghannouchi, who led an Islamist movement in the 1980s, returned home as the country has recently been hit hard by political turmoils that saw the of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
