The Democratic Republic of Congo will hold its presidential and legislative elections on Nov. 27, 2011, according to the Central African country's electoral commission.
The Congolese Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) announced the date at a press conference held here on Monday.
In case of no winner in the first round, a presidential run-off will be organized alongside provincial legislative elections on Feb. 26, 2012, CEI President Apollinaire Malu Malu declared.
The CEI chief said the publication of the electoral calendar was based on the existing law, financial and material preparation and consultations with partners, especially the UN peacekeeping mission in DR Congo (MONUSCO).
