Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir arrived in Chad for a visit on Wednesday in defiance of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC). The warrant is opposed by African countries.
Bashir was welcomed by his Chadian counterpart Idriss Deby at the airport.
Western reports expected Chad's obligation to carry out the ICC order. But the Sudanese government expressed confidence that Chad would not subject to the pressure to turn Bashir over to the ICC, which charges him with torture in Sudan's Darfur region.
